Woof Wagon didn't come from a business plan. It came from love, desperation, and the discovery that real food changes everything.
Sebastian was my Great Dane — my first dog, my first baby. When he was seven years old, he was diagnosed with bone cancer. I took him to four or five different veterinarians, and every single one said the same thing: bone cancer, three months, it will metastasize to the lungs, and that will be the end.
I refused to accept that. I took him to Katonah Medical Center, who referred us to a specialist on Long Island for targeted radiation — not to cure him, but to manage the pain in his leg while we figured out what came next. From there, I found Smith Ridge Veterinary Center in South Salem, NY — a practice well known for its integrative approach to animal care. They advised me to start cooking for him. Real food. Whole food. One meal at a time.
Great Danes are a breed that typically lives seven to eight years under the best of circumstances. Sebastian had bone cancer at seven with a three-month prognosis.
He lived to be ten years old.
I am not saying food cured my dog. I am saying that I followed the guidance of his care team, I cooked for him every day, and I watched him live a full life far beyond what anyone predicted. He passed on June 14, 2010. He would have turned eleven that September. I will never stop believing that the way I fed him mattered.
Hudson is my Cane Corso, and from the very beginning he was a mess. For the first year and a half of his life he had chronic diarrhea, recurring ear infections, skin blisters, bumps all over his head. I was taking him to the vet constantly and trying everything I was told.
For most of that time I was feeding him one kibble meal and one home-cooked meal each day — a premium dry food in the morning, considered among the best on the market, and a cooked meal at night. Even with that split, even with the home cooking already in his bowl once a day, nothing got better. The issues persisted. The vet visits kept coming.
One day I brought him in and walked out $600 later with no new answers and a very sick dog. I came home and threw the entire bag of kibble in the trash.
That was the last bag I ever bought.
I started cooking for Hudson exclusively — the same way I had cooked for Sebastian. Whole ingredients, real meat, fresh vegetables, nothing processed. Within weeks, everything changed. The diarrhea stopped. The ear infections cleared. The blisters healed. Today, Hudson goes to the vet once a year for his annual checkup and shots, and that is it. He has a coat so shiny that strangers stop us on our walks just to ask what I feed him.
The experiences shared above are my own personal experiences with my own dogs. I am not a veterinarian, and nothing on this page or anywhere on this website is intended as veterinary advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Every dog is different. Please consult your veterinarian before making any changes to your dog's diet — especially if your dog has a medical condition or special dietary needs.
Woof Wagon is a small, independent business based in Westchester County, NY. Everything is made fresh to order using quality meats sourced from Castle Meat Co. & Provisions — our local butcher — and fresh vegetables chosen for their nutritional value. Our meals contain no fillers, no preservatives, and no mystery ingredients.
Our current menu features the Chicken Medley and Beef Medley — each built around quality meat, our simple starter base of sweet potato, carrots, and broccoli, a little rice, and organ meats added in thoughtful moderation. Meals are packed in 16 oz containers with feeding guidance tailored to your dog's size, age, and activity level. We offer 2-week and 1-month orders, made fresh and delivered locally throughout Westchester and surrounding areas.
Because we work with fresh, real ingredients at current market prices, our costs may vary slightly from time to time — we will always be transparent about that. Our commitment is to keep our meals as consistent and affordable as possible, without ever compromising on quality.
We are also working to expand our menu. By request and as available: pork, turkey, lamb, and fish options. Because butcher availability and pricing can change, we price these options honestly based on the current market.
Woof Wagon is proud to be growing with the support of local businesses, kitchens, and community partners who believe in good food, less waste, and doing things with care. As we grow, we are continuing to build relationships with more local butchers, food partners, and supporters who share our values.
Castle Meat Co. & Provisions is our local butcher partner and one of the places we source quality meats for Woof Wagon meals.
